Universal brake chopper
For protection against overvoltage in the DC intermediate circuit.

Overview

A brake chopper is used to handle the excess energy generated during the deceleration or braking of electric drives, such as motors in elevators, conveyor belts or machine tools. Normally, this energy is fed back into the Normally, this energy is fed back into the DC intermediary circuit of the frequency inverter. However, when the DC intermediary circuit reaches its maximum voltage limit, the excess energy must be dissipated to prevent damage to the inverter or the connected equipment.
This is where the brake chopper comes into play. It converts the excess electrical energy into heat, which is then safely dissipated. This is particularly important in applications where frequent or rapid braking is required or where the motor is driven as a generator in servo mode.

Universally retrofittable brake choppers

We offer "fully customizable" brake chopper solutions that are connected directly to the DC intermediary circuit without an additional power supply, which enables simple (retrofitting) integration into an existing system.
